Gaming PC & Setup FAQs

What components matter most in a gaming PC?

The best gaming PC isn’t about buying the most expensive parts—it’s about balance. Your graphics card (GPU) has the biggest impact on gaming performance, followed by a capable processor (CPU) and enough RAM to keep everything running smoothly. Talk to us for expert gaming PC advice tailored to you.

How much storage do I need?

We ran tests across a huge game library and found that the average game install is 16GB.

Windows 11 also needs around 150GB as it expands over time.

1000GB (1TB) is the sweet spot but if you are on a budget, 500GB will still allow around 20 installed games!

u

Worried about VRAM?

More VRAM doesn’t automatically mean more performance. For 1080p gaming, 8GB of VRAM is a sensible starting point for most games, while 12GB or more gives extra headroom for demanding games, higher texture settings and the years ahead. If shopping on a budget then use 6GB as an absolute minimum for gaming.

u

What do i need in order to run VR games?

Great PC VR needs more than just a powerful graphics card. For smooth VR gaming through Steam Link, you’ll want a capable gaming PC and GPU, a compatible VR headset, and—just as importantly—a fast, stable home network. Ideally, connect your PC directly to your router with Ethernet and use strong Wi-Fi for your headset.

u

What is a RTB warranty?

RTB means return to base. In simple terms you return the PC to us if it develops a fault. We check for the issue and usually fix it for free. If you have damaged the PC don't worry we are still happy to help and will do everything we can to keep any repair bill down.

u

How much RAM do I need for gaming?

16GB is a solid starting point for many modern gaming setups. 32GB is a smart choice if you stream, multitask heavily, use creative software, or want more headroom for demanding new titles.

Even on a budget you should avoid 8GB wherever possible as it will probably result in a laggy gaming experience.

Can i save money by trading my old parts?

Your old PC parts could help pay for your next upgrade. At Hybrid Gaming, we can make you a trade-in offer for your old components and explain what you might achieve by selling them yourself. You’ll see the difference, understand the options and decide what works best for you. Simple, transparent trade-ins with no guesswork.

u

Should I upgrade my GPU or CPU first?

For most gaming-focused upgrades, the GPU delivers the largest improvement in visual settings and frame rates. Consider a CPU upgrade first if your processor is limiting performance in CPU-heavy games, esports titles, streaming, or multitasking workloads.
